“Children on the Streets – A Report from the German-Czech Border”

Cathrin Schauer, 2003 (ECPAT Germany / German Committee for UNICEF, Horlemann Verlag)

This study is the first comprehensive documentation of the commercial sexual exploitation of children in the German-Czech border region. It reveals how minors—sometimes by their families or criminal networks—are forced into prostitution and, above all, abused by German perpetrators. It is based on years of research (since 1996), approximately 500 documented cases, and about 200 interviews with victims, professionals, and authorities. The publication brought the extent of the violence to light and called for stronger measures to protect children.
